The POSEIDO Scientific International Research & Education Centers (SIREC) are renowned Academic entities and research groups within the POSEIDO network, linked together to develop global research and education projects supported by the POSEIDO Consortium. This network of SIRECS is organized also to support and supervise the development of the POSEIDO international activities in general. These structures were selected for their experience in developing education and/or research programs, and can also serve as reference entities or laboratories in their geographic area.

Depending on the specialities of each SIREC (material testing, clinical trials, clinical education, cell biology, etc), this network of SIRECs was created to fulfil several objectives, particularly:

- to support and to supervise the activities of the POSEIDO SIREN, the network of researchers and clinicians of the POSEIDO Consortium,

- to develop multicentric clinical studies within a network of well-established partners worldwide, and to organize global round tables on important clinical issues,

- to participate to inter-laboratory testing at the world scale, particularly for the development of new international standards in implantable materials,

- to participate to a global network of reference laboratories for the industry and the regulatory administrations.

The network of SIRECs has a wide array of specific missions, but a SIREC practically serves as a reference entity in each geographical area to support the global research and educational activities of the wide POSEIDO community. The network of SIREC is synchronized by the Board of Directors of the Consortium. All SIREC Directors are parts of the Board or Program Coordinators, and they are all involved in the POSEIDO open-access Journal activities.

There are in general several SIRECs per geographical area. The first SIRECs are:
